How to reach The Shortlist Desk with a correction, a source, a question about a note, or a suggestion for a subject.
Reaching the desk
The desk reads its post. Write to [email protected] with a correction, a source the desk has missed, a question about a note, or a subject worth a note of its own. A message that names the page and quotes the sentence in question gets the fastest answer, because the desk can go straight to the note and the source behind it.
Corrections and sources
When a note is wrong, the desk corrects it and says so in the note itself, with the date of the change. When a reader sends a source the desk had not read, the desk reads it, checks it against the published guidance, and updates the note if the source changes the answer. Points of law are checked against the original publication rather than a summary of it.
Working with the desk
Editors, sector bodies, trade unions, training providers and employers who publish guidance of their own are welcome to send it. The desk reads what it is sent and names the sources it uses in the note. The desk writes its own text, and a place in a note follows the source and the reader's need, never a payment.
